Joseph Schneider – One Day You’ll Burn

A body so badly burned that it could be mistaken for a movie prop…except for the smell. That’s not something the LAPD finds lying on the street every day. And when Detective Tully Jarsdel is called to the scene, it’s clear to him that something about the placement of the corpse is intentional, even ritualistic. Jarsdel’s former career in academia seems to finally be coming in handy, rather than serving merely as material for jokes from his partner, Morales.

But nothing Jarsdel learned in school can prepare him for the deep evil behind this case, which appears to be as hopeless as it is violent. As Jarsdel and Morales attempt to settle their differences and uncover the motive behind the horrendous crime, they find themselves dragged into the underbelly of a city notorious for chewing up and spitting out anyone dumb enough to turn their back on survival.

Scared to death, what a great title for a thriller! I think most of us have heard the phrase, right? This book was fantastic! I cant even imagine what these parents went through looking for their daughter, Melanie. This book goes deep and really tackles some major underlying issues that seem to be plaguing our society these days bullying. Its prominent everywhere no race, color, creed, or religious background is exempt.

I havent previously read anything by Rachel Amphlett but I really enjoyed this audio book. While this isnt a great mystery on who the killer is, its a fantastic cat and mouse as we try and capture the guilty. This book really amps up the tension, when Kay Hunter feels threatened at work by someone. This book unfolds quickly and it was a very entertaining read. I would have liked a bit more mystery but theres more in this series well see how that goes!

The narrator, Alison Campbell was fantastic! I loved her accent. Im always thrilled when I can listen to a narrator from another country especially the UK. I know Im going to get these voices that are completely going to hypnotize me and thats just what Ms. Campbell does!
